The Water Resources and Ecosystems Department in IHE Delft conducts research and education activities that aim to support society in decisions and policy that sustain freshwater resources and ecosystems by balancing their protection, restoration, use, and development. We conduct research and provide post-graduate education and training to professionals in the fields of hydraulic engineering, hydrology/hydrogeology, and aquatic ecosystems while maintaining interdisciplinary collaborations with other departments in IHE Delft and with international partners.
The Sustainable Freshwater Resources and Ecosystems Research Group of IHE Delft is looking for motivated candidates with a keen interest in applied aquatic ecology and freshwater bio-assessment in the global south, and its application to the Sustainable Development Goals. Candidates must have at least two years relevant experience since obtaining a PhD. It is expected that candidates will have an enthusiasm for teaching in a multicultural environment, developing MSc teaching and training for professionals in the application of ecology to support capacity in low- and middle-income countries, including effective use of on-line platforms. The candidate should have the potential to build an active research portfolio, attract competitive research funding, work in multidisciplinary teams, and have an interest or proven track record in bio-assessment for policy support, Candidates should have a solid background in freshwater taxonomy, ecology and ecosystem functioning. Expertise in multivariate analysis is essential. A fluent command of English is required. Competency in other international languages is an advantage.

The employment contract is for 1 fte – 38 hours per week.
The position is in accordance with scale 10 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.
This role requires the candidate to be based in the Netherlands, Delft or willing to relocate to the country. Candidates must be prepared to carry out short-term missions abroad.
